Georgefest and St. George Children’s Museum will again combine efforts Dec. 1, as the monthly First Friday community event at historic downtown rings in the holiday season with the annual Gingerbread Tour, live music and more.
The annual return of the Gingerbread Tour has prompted a flurry of designing and baking, as downtown merchants vie for the coveted event trophy. Voting begins Nov. 25 with punch cards available at the Children’s Museum. Winners will be announced at Main Stage Dec. 1 at 9 p.m.
Holiday music on Main Stage will feature Dixie High School, Snow Canyon High School, and Hands in Harmony choirs bringing to town festive holiday sounds. At Green Gate Jazz Garden, attendees will enjoy Dixie Jazz Quartet, Nick Adams and Vinyl Fusion.
Carrie Bunker, new Georgefest interim executive director, said, “The Georgefest street festival you have come to know and love is getting a facelift. We have listened to your feedback and we are making things even better,” she said. “We are going dark January and February to prepare for a bigger and better 2018. Watch for our new launch on Friday March 2, and thanks for supporting Georgefest.”
Georgefest, a nightlife event designed to celebrate the best of southern Utah, is held on the first Friday of every month from 6-10 p.m., with the Jazz Garden at Green Gate Village open until midnight April–October.
